I genuinely love this app so much, like you could do anything on this 😋😋

The new UI is too clunky-chunky, ugly, and everyone is now forced to have a circle icon on the dashboard, getting rid of the customization choice of having a square icon [as god intended] — I’m keeping the app uninstalled for as long as this update is in place, you should learn how to foster an environment that doesn’t alienate your existing userbase while adding more intuitive features to invite new users, stop trying to lazily rip off X / Twitter.

I’ve used tumblr for many years and have decided to download the app to re-experience it after three years of not using it. It’s SO MUCH fun! I missed it immensely. If you’re thinking about it, for it and enjoy!

There was no feature on the first of April this year and I’m very disappointed by that.

Reminds me of MySpace, but newer. I have been THRIVING as a homestuck artist on here 🙏

Tumblr just keeps worsening itself, and for what? The new ui is hideous and the buttons are all bogus and useless

quick queue was the absolute best and now it’s gone i dont want to spam people with 60+ reblogs twice a day, i want to queue things. so why get rid of the button that made queuing a post so easy??? what was the point?? and the constant push to make videos and communities into Something is ridiculous. a text based platform for blogging is only made worse by the addition of communities and videos as it takes away from the actual content we all came here for.

It's not perfect--I'd like it to remember where I left off. Besides that, it works reliably. I can do Facebook for family only, Instagram for cyber friends, and get news and entertainment from Tumblr

I recognize that UI changes are common, and complaining about UI changed and kicking up a fuss when you’ll eventually get used to it - but I am not exaggerating when I say that tumblr’s new UI update to focus on blog titles and icons is actively hostile to the user experience. If someone reblogs an image from one other person, the url headers & notes will be 40% the size of the image itself. It takes 3 lines of text and 2 lines of tags the actual content of the post to take up as much space as the blog/notes. If you have a simple text post with a back and forth, these headers take >60% of the post, making it a struggle to even find what the post is about. This is also not a case of accessibility, given that 1) the headers & notes are the one part of the post that are NOT affected by Apple Accessibility’s dynamic larger text 2) Tumblr does not scale to the four top options for larger text. If you need these sizes to read, you cannot use tumblr as is anyway. At max size, the header text is smaller than the post text, and yet still outsized two lines of text. I know who i follow on my dash. I do not need help seeing them. I do not need a massive follow button that is the size of 15 post characters. If I am on a blogging platform or a social media platform, I would like to see the blog posts and media, not a repetitive slog of urls and usernames. This is also doubly disappointing given how they have supposedly tamped down this year’s April Fool’s effort because of their skeleton crew. Did they also cut QA , or would it not have been better to give the people in charge of developing this UI change that task instead? They’re certainly skilled at building something that makes you feel like a fool. I have not stopped using Tumblr after any of the other previous updates, and I have previously felt that even when it has been made worse, it’s still better than other platforms. But I (and others) will probably not be using it until there is at least some kind of toggle so that I can actually see the content I downloaded this app for.

I have been using tumblr for nearly 15 years and there are a couple of features that I consider important. The quick queue button, and the ability to drag my finger to choose which blog to post to. Neither of these features are able to be used with the new update.

The ads are offensive.

Despite having it enabled for years on every account I’ve had, mobile isn’t giving me the fast queue option anymore. Honestly a pushing point for me to not use it anymore

Trash update that makes everything a little bit worse. Edit post button is now hidden, gone is your queue button- blazing posts are now the priority. Inconsistent fonts between numbers and actual words especially where it says number of notes. Hoping this is the big April fools joke this time.

Hey so the queue button on the timeline was great and allowing you to post directly from your queue was great. Please consider putting that feature back. It's much more difficult now

the new formatting update has honestly ruined the whole app for me. everything is much to large and circular. no one asked for this. no one wanted this. reverse the update. it’s an eyesore and it looks childish. if you want to keep the users that you do have, you have to listen to them.

After the latest update posts that are meant to be locked can be reblogged. I tested this with someone else’s posts that I knew was locked and it was going to let me reblog it.

I’ve come to expect an April fools update every year. Yet this year you guys did a massive UI update and no April fools :( I was literally talking to my friends yesterday about how excited I was for this

For months now Tumblr has had aggressive new ads that steal your audio focus away. Even though the ads don’t make a sound, it stops any background music or podcast you’re listening to. Their suggestion is to “buy a subscription so the ads don’t show up” instead of fixing a bug in their software.

the newest UI update removed the tumblr lab fast queue button from mobile and i would really like it back please

Using this app yesterday ate through over 43% of my battery in just a few hours. My phone got hot to the touch and I watched my battery fade to 6% before I force closed the app and was able to recharge. If I left it running in the background, my battery continued to drain at a rate I’ve never noticed my phone die before. I had better battery usage watching YouTube videos! Some kind of bug happening.

The new appearance is extremely ugly, and genuinely makes my eyes hurt when I look at it. The reply, reblog, like, and follow buttons are ridiculously large compared to the actual text of posts, and it just looks bad. Additionally, the queue button is now gone, which is a change that literally no one asked for and no one wants. The previous version of the app appearance was great, and I don’t understand why it changed

If you don’t want comments design a new app. Stop suppressing this one

Hello, I am rating two stars because your video feature you have implemented recently showed me a very inappropriate video of a lady doing a bad thing that I shall not say. It has happened multiple times. Also to mention the random getting flashed because some weirdo putting random tags in their posts of them also doing the nono things. This app needs better moderation for things that are actually bad and not just stupid things like cursing or something. I don’t want to see the stuff I am seeing on this app and there’s no way to get rid of it for good because they’re not tagged with what it actually is and therefore the filter does not work on it. I will now have to stare at cute pictures of kittens for an hour to clean my eyeballs. Please fix your moderation.

I swear every update this app makes to the user interface just makes things worse. I can’t scroll past more than 2 posts without having to close the app because the huge user icons and Giant follow buttons are physically difficult for me to look at.

It's terrible and literally everyone hates it. If this is an april fools joke HAHA YOU GOT ME. I'll take this down or something. But if it isn't. If it ISNT. I guess I will have to delete what is practically the only social media I use. Would be a shame, but I'd do it. Lots of other people would probably do the same. Something to consider <3

It’s so ugly I’m actually having a serious debate with myself if I should delete the app off of my phone. The gif tv stuff is dangerous for anyone who has epilepsy and crowds the bottom bar, everyone misses the little smiley emoticon style button for notifications / messages. I hate the dashboard set up! You guys kind of break posts by having them weirdly zoomed in and ) having tags at the top of posts. I miss the small, square user icons because it didn’t make me want to close the app because the UI is too cluttered and overstimulating! Your userbase uses you because you AREN’T Instagram.

I love being a tumblr girl

I love Tumblr, I've been using it for years. But between the meaningless and annoying updates, banning trans women and Palestinians, etc. I feel like I'm starting to lose it a little bit. Undo the latest update, let Tumblr function as it has been for years and stop banning minorities while you're at it. The app's UI never stays the same for longer than 6 months without a janky update that users have no choice but to get used to. It's ridiculous. I'd rather use Elon Musk's Twitter of all things. If things don't change, I will have no choice but to encourage myself and others to drop the platform and use different apps.

I dislike the new formatting it's ugly

The new changes to the app are absolutely horrendous. To start, the new profile pictures, who decided to make them huge? They’re incredibly inconvenient and annoying. They make posts longer for no good reason when you can just click on a persons profile if you wanna see their picture THAT closely. The bottom editing button being taken away, I personally used it constantly and don’t understand why exactly it had to be removed because it was an incredibly more convenient way to edit a post than have to deal with clicking on the 3 dots to get to the editing button. Overall I find that change just downright frustrating, but adding videos or, my bad, “tumblr tv” to the app was just plain idiotic. Whoever made the executive decision to add videos to a BLOGGING app should be fired and blacklisted from ever working any sort of job where they actually have to understand people, because obviously they can’t understand the audience tumblr has collected. On the topic of stupid executive decisions, who decided to change the notification system? why is it a lightning bolt now? why is it having so many issues all of the sudden SINCE being turned into a lightning bolt? you’d think being a lightning bolt youd get the notifications immediately but no, instead half the time I’m lucky if my notifications go off at all. Overall entirely horrible experience 0/10. fix your app and if you can’t, fire yourself and hire someone who actually cares about the app that so many people have loved over the years to fix it.

tumblr is cool but especially lately will not stop updating the format, or adding in useless features that absolutely no one uses. its rlly annoying, ends up making my app run slower, and is generally just hard to adjust to something glitchy and clunky every couple of weeks

Love this app, I've been here for years, but the latest mobile update that enlarged everybody's username and icon is so dumb. The larger icons distract your eye from the actual content of the post and make it harder to focus on. Also in longer posts with lots of reblogs it means the icons take up wayyy too much space. It doesn't look good and actively makes the user experience worse. Why do you guy do this????
